JCI Leadership Summit Delegates from across the globe gathered at the UN offices in Geneva July 28-30, 2009 to face the problem of climate change and take action against it.
The international Senate meeting held in Honduras in August 17 to 22 was an excellent opportunity to meet JCI Senators of the Americas and Caribbean, in an atmosphere of friendship; they also attended the National Convention of JCI Senate of Honduras in the city of Tegucigalpa, which became a well-deserved tribute to Senator Manuel Pineda, current President of ASAC, in a sense recognition of his great career.
From August 13 to 15 was held the Family Weekend of Puerto Rico JCI Senate, in the Villas Spa Boqueron, Cape Red. Over three days, JCI members, Senators and friends shared activities. On friday the 13th was the opening; saturday morning was beach and sun; the afternooncontinued with different activities, playing and fraternization. Sunday morning everybody returned to their homes.
JCI Senate Conference in Mexico city was held on July 17 in the National Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, with the participation of Senate President Fernando Gutierrez VP Fausto Sanchez; Treasurer Carmen Mendoza and internationally renowned trainers John Moreno and Monica Ramos.
In the past US JCI Senate National Convention was elected Mike O'Connell as 39th. President for 2010-2011. His theme “Remember the Past – Grow the Future” is a reminder to use those recruiting and retention practices we learned as Jaycees to grow the Senate.
Françis Defauw, #22596, from Belgium, was elected new President of the Association of JCI Senators in Europe in the annual general meeting held in Aarhus, Denmark, during the European JCI Conference, an event that gathered members and Senators in a great spirit present during five days full of active networking, amazing opening ceremony, high-quality trainings, keynote speakers, fundraising for the 'Nothing but Nets' campaign, national parties and Senators' lounge.
